Most Recent Project
https://browardschools.instructure.com/enroll/T9MWDK This is one of the seven courses I designed and developed for adult learners attending a four day face-to-face professional development using the Canvas LMS. A shell was constructed and then populated with content specific materials created by subject matter experts. Using the syllabus page, a course summary of assignments was created for learners. Specific dates were set to make assignments available and due at specific times in alignment with the content being addressed each day. Though the training is face-to-face, learners engage in digital content, communicate with one another online through discussions, submit assignments, the required follow-up activities and maintain relevant documents such as any handouts or PowerPoint presentations used by the trainers. You can view the video to the left for an overview. If you are a district employee you can self enroll using the URL to view this course as a student. |
Self-Paced, Individualized Instruction
https://browardschools.instructure.com/enroll/FP9WAL This is part three of a four part course designed to prepare middle school civics students for the End-of-Course Exam. The course is designed to be self-paced and individualized based on the results of a diagnostic assessment. The diagnostic consists of three questions for each benchmark in the reporting category. After students submit their assessment self-reflection sheet to their teacher, the teacher will assign specific modules and content. Students will then work through the assigned modules to deepen their understanding and application of vocabulary, reading, and content knowledge. Proficiency is demonstrates by the completion of a culminating benchmark quiz. You can view the video to the right for an overview. If you are a district employee you can self enroll using the URL to view this course as a student. |

Making Shells
Knowing my love of Canvas, several District Supervisors have asked me for assistance creating Canvas courses. The goal was to create shells based on their needs and expectations. Once the shell was complete their subject matter experts would populate the course with content. A couple of sample shells can be seen in slide deck on the left.
